# Documents, PDFs, and decks in one workspace

## The work needed a front door

Teams already use Grain to create briefs, reports, research, meeting notes, spreadsheets, and presentations. But when those artifacts lived only inside the task that created them, finding the right one later depended on remembering the conversation around it.

Documents now has a dedicated home in the Grain sidebar. Open /documents—or use /docs as a shortcut—to search what the team has created, filter by type, revisit recent work, and move between open documents in tabs. A dense list makes the full library easy to scan, while live counts reflect the documents whose tasks are actually running.

## Bring the files people already use

A useful document workspace cannot stop at files created inside Grain. AI teammates can now read PDFs and PowerPoint presentations as first-class source material. PDFs preserve page boundaries so an answer can point back to the page a person sees. If a scanned PDF has no text layer, Grain says so clearly instead of pretending the file is empty.

PowerPoint decks arrive as ordered slide content, including speaker notes. That means a teammate can compare a deck with a written brief, extract decisions from the notes, or revise a narrative while keeping the slide order intact.

- See a clear message when a scan needs OCR instead of receiving an empty answer.

## A presentation request now produces a presentation

When someone asks for a deck, prose in a chat window is not the finished artifact. Grain can now create a real editable presentation, open it in Grain Slides, and export it to PowerPoint. The same workflow is available whether the task runs on hosted Grain Models or a local executor.

The result stays connected to the task that made it, so the brief, sources, discussion, and editable deck remain part of one trail. A teammate can review the slides, ask for a tighter opening, change the data, and export the next version without rebuilding the context.

## Knowledge that stays usable

The point of Documents is not another place to store files. It is a place where generated work and the source material behind it remain findable, readable, and ready for the next instruction. The library gives the work a home; richer PDF and PowerPoint support makes that home useful for the formats teams already depend on.
