## An easier way to try your next idea

A product idea, a first draft, a question you want to explore: you should be able to try it before committing to a paid model. Free Models is now available in Grain on web and desktop, starting with Space Bunny Alpha through OpenRouter. You do not need your own API key, and requests in this lane use zero Grain credits.

New to Grain? Start a seven-day free trial with no credit card. The trial lets you explore Grain; Free Models has its own request limits and provider availability. The two are separate, so the trial is not a promise of unlimited model usage or guaranteed access to an experimental model for seven days.

## Make something worth continuing

Start with public, non-sensitive text and a clear question. Try one of these prompts:

- Turn this product idea into three possible audiences and a simple launch plan.
- Draft five landing-page headlines for a fictional plant-care app.
- Compare these two approaches and explain what I should test first.

## Choose Free Models when you start a task

A workspace admin first enables Free Models in Settings → Grain Models. Open a new task on web or desktop, select Free Models in the runtime picker, and choose Space Bunny Alpha. Review the model notice before starting. Grain remembers an explicit runtime choice for future tasks.

Free Models sits alongside Grain Models and Grain Executor. Grain Models uses workspace credits for broader hosted workflows. Grain Executor connects your own coding tools and computers for repository work. Free Models currently supports tasks you start yourself using text; it does not accept attachments or project context, run unattended automations, or provide repository access.

## Clear limits, no surprise switch to a paid model

Free requests have personal, workspace, task, and shared provider limits. One task can make several model requests. Grain shows availability in the app; if a limit is reached or the model is unavailable, the free task stops instead of silently switching to a paid model.

Space Bunny Alpha is an experimental model from an anonymous provider through OpenRouter. The provider may log or use prompts under its own terms, and model availability can change without notice. Use public, non-sensitive content; keep private, customer, and repository information out of Free Models.

Open Grain in your browser or update the Mac app to 1.1.151 for the Free Models picker. Start small, inspect the result, and choose the execution option that fits the next step.

## About Grain

Grain is a multi-agent work platform. A person describes an outcome as a Mission, Grain coordinates the models, tools, files, repositories, and connected computers needed to do the work, and the result returns for review.
