Does Grain Executor use my credits?+
No. Running your connected AI tools through Grain Executor does not deduct Grain credits. Your AI provider’s subscription, API charges, and usage limits still apply. Your Grain plan’s task and capacity limits also apply.
When do I spend Grain credits?+
Grain credits pay for hosted AI work with Grain Models. Pro and Business include a monthly allowance. Separately enabled Grain-hosted services or cloud fallback may also use credits; running your connected tools through Grain Executor does not.
What counts as a task?+
One end-to-end agent run—from its trigger to the final output. Retries and sub-agent calls within that run do not count as separate tasks.
Can I use AI plans I already pay for?+
Yes. Connect supported local CLIs such as Claude Code, Codex, Grok CLI, Gemini CLI, Kimi Code, OpenCode, and Nico Code through the Grain desktop app. You keep the provider relationship; Grain coordinates the work.
What happens at the API spend cap?+
The run pauses cleanly and Grain asks for a decision. You can raise the cap or approve the additional spend instead of discovering a surprise bill later.
Is there a free plan?+
Yes. Free covers one repository and three tasks a month using your connected AI tools. You can also try Grain with a seven-day trial, no credit card required. Free Models is a separate hosted option for public, non-sensitive text, with zero Grain credits and its own usage limits. A workspace admin must enable it.
How is Free Models different from Grain Models?+
Free Models currently offers Space Bunny Alpha through OpenRouter on web and desktop. You do not need your own API key. Requests use zero Grain credits, subject to workspace, personal, and shared provider limits. Models may become unavailable; Grain never silently switches a free task to a paid model. Grain Models uses workspace credits for broader hosted workflows. Free Models does not include repository access, attachments, project context, or unattended automations.
Can I change plans?+
Yes. Upgrades are prorated immediately, while downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.
How does yearly billing work?+
Yearly billing saves 20% compared with paying month to month. The plan cards show the effective monthly price and the annual amount billed.
